Dropping the Loincloth

Jigs’ philosophical meme wasn’t the easiest of tasks, especially that I was responding with a video. Faced with questions like What is the meaning of life and How would you describe the color blue to a blind person, I thought, also because I didn’t want to offend any of my audience whose beliefs may be contrary to mine, that it’d be best not to go the philosophical road. Instead I compromised my beliefs, dropped the loin cloth and resorted to answering bastardly. And with both questions basically asking for ..uhmm ..meaning, I turned to the dictionary. Little did I know, I would be treated to smart doses of bullshit.

Life n. [ līf ] the quality that makes living animals and plants different from dead organisms and inorganic matter.

Well that made sense, didn’t it?! Life means “not dead.” I mean, if I only knew the smart peoples behind these dictionaries only pointed to opposites to create their descriptions, why, English 101 would’ve been easier for me!

Then we turn to the second question, how would you describe blue to a blind person? You probably wont be able to coz the dictionary peoples cant either. The one below was already a bit nice compared to all the other descriptions I came across. You would think that by looking at a dictionary one would be able to find meanings… not always.

Blue n. [ bloo ] having or resembling the color of the sky on a cloudless day

So what lessons do you learn today? First, some things cannot be described. Second, half of the things in the dictionary is bullshit. Third, there is no proper description for the color blue that would be understood by the blind person.
