My stressful school days officially ended yesterday. I have finally completed my thesis project, Pharmacy System; it is part of the Hospital Information System designed for the Doctor’s Clinic and Hospital. This system application was created using Visual Basic.NET and MS SQL. The System is designed to work with any platforms (Windows or Linux).

The project’s scope is principally comprised of developing a Point of Sales (POS) and Inventory system that is fully integrated with the hospital-wide system intended to be deployed in the hospital. The system, being just one of the components of the hospital-wide system, is limited in handling those Pharmacy-related activities only including sales, inventory and report generation.

It is very rewarding to hear my instructor say that my system is approved. I am now working on the documentation and package presentation. Although, our graduation is already on March 23, 2008 (Easter Sunday), I still have to comply with all the requirements in my major after the graduation day.

Not everyone can be pleased.

There are simply enemies around who don’t deserve to be called as enemy.

Life is challenging.

Believe in your heart but respond with your mind.

Have this philosophy: “I can do it!”

done this, done that

Labels: , , ,

The week was very exhausting. I had a hectic schedule doing things and stuffs that was expected and planned this week. I am effecting my operative time management skill in doing all these scheduled activities and events.

The 1st Volunteers’ Babad.
TYG organized the first general assembly for the new volunteers and it was designed to mold and develop volunteers’ holistic being. This month’s babad session was focused on Self-awareness giving importance on Multiple Intelligences.

We are really glad that we still have that number of volunteers who attended the session. Unexpectedly, we are surprised of the overwhelming interest of volunteers to serve and to learn more about the cause of the organization. We thought that it will be a trend for the TYG volunteers to be inactive as time of their commitment in the org elapsed. We hope that we can change this tendency.
In the conduct of our babad session we are able to let our volunteers stomped the aluminum cans of cola that we have collected during the College of Science and Technology Acquaintance party. We made that activity as a game so that the volunteers will enjoy crashing and stomping those tin cans. We called the game as You CAN do it! where the volunteers were grouped into small groups of eight. The game was to create a highest tower using the tin cans placed in their group. After deciding the round we told them to stomp the cans in the fastest time. The game ended with a brief processing relating to the talk the group had.
That night I to attended the acquaintance party of the College of Business courtesy of the special invitation. I was given two VIP invitation for the party for the credit of being the developer and programmer of the college council billing system project. I gave the other invitation to ayel since there are no other person who deserve the invitation. He was part also of the SAD team for the development of that system. In the party we felt like gate crashers since we were the only students who does not belong to the business college. Well they won't mind us I guess and besides we were officially invited.
Later that evening in the party, we collected aluminum cans for TYG's fund raising. We had three large bags of cans when we exited the hall while the students were discoing. We would have more collected cans if we stayed longer in the hall. Though we can only have 80.00 pesos per kilo of stomped aluminum cans still it would be a great help for our fellow youth in South Cotabato to get into college. Also we will have more cans for our You CAN do it! game. It would be fun.
Acads and more of Academics. I was drowned by the requirements and projects that I have. Deadline was meeting their ends very soon and I still have to cram to start working for these requirements. Another is the System that the Business college demanding to be launched on the second week of August. I hope that I can comply to all these demands and deadlines.
Nomination. I was nominated for the SMC (Saint Marcellin Champagnat) Award in the University. It was the highest award that the University confer to deserving students but I feel not worthy for the award because of the criteria - a nominee must embody Marcellin's principles. The nomination will be also the basis to who will the school send as participant to the Marist Asian Congress this year. Pray for me guys!

The highlights of the festival is the Madal Be'lan, Kadsagayan A Lalan and Kasadyahan sa Kapatagan Street Dancing Competitions. These are the most awaited event of the south cotabateños. The event will showcase the the rich culture of people in the south of mindanao. The diversity of the races and ethnicity of people in the place is not a hindrance for the development and progress of the province. This is because people in the south cotabato live in harmony and solidarity.

Merrymaking in the street is the Kadsagayan A Lalan, originally, called as Kadsayahan sa Dalan [street]. This is the traditional street dancing competition that show the culture of each municipality and city in the province, bring the best and real life of people in their area. It was a very exciting and enjoyable event that we watched even though the sun was so high. Tupi got the bacon for this category also. They all went home with a total cash prize of Php240.000.00. I vouch also that they will win the two categories they have participated.

The festival ended with a Popular Dance Showdown at Alunan Avenue, which was participated by different recognized and outstanding dance groups in the province, Disko sa Kalye [Street Disco] follows the showdown until sawa, and a 15 minutes Fireworks display which draw the attention of the people who are there around and underscores the concluding events that night.

I love South Cotabato for its people.

The Friends and the Mutya

From left: The 2nd runner-up, Jo, the Mutya ng Kultura at Sining, Ryan, and his classmate, Mika, the Mutya ng Turismo.

After the street dancing showdown competitions, we are able to take a picture with our friends who won and been crown with titles as Mutya of the province. We have not able to have a picture with the Mutya ng South Cotabato [the grand winner] because she was with the Governor exiting from the place. Ryan and I were very happy to have that moment. Anyway they will be ordinary when they are in school but they are in spotlight at the that matter.

More pictures of the events during the festival.

A little note

I might seldom go online next week in preparation for the system projects and requirements I have to comply. I got also to concentrate for a moment on my academics. :)

How was my day?

Labels: , ,

I am blissful today because I have had accomplished my scheduled activities and I been with my friends and co-volunteers for some fun. I have been productive this day.

I woke up as early as 7:00am this morning just to catch-up the NSTP Pathways first session. Kiang, the coordinator for special program and I were the facilitators in their session. We oriented them on the outline and design of the NSTP pathways program. It was rewarding having that service for the youth. After that session, I was assigned to be one of the panelists who will evaluate the aspirant volunteer-tutor for academic tutorial program of the T’nalak Youth Group through a teaching demonstration.

That was a busy morning. After it, we have our lunch together with Ate Sandra, Ate Kix, Kiang, Ronnel, and Arnel at the University Canteen. The volunteer-tutor’s teaching demonstration was continued after we had our lunch. In the afternoon Demo evaluation, I had excused myself because I was requested by the Guidance Office to facilitate the pre-career orientation of late freshmen and transferee enrollees at the University. It took for three hours. Luckily we have been given free snack (cheese burger and pepsi max in can), which I really loved most every time we have this kind of activities in school.

Right after I had finished eating my snack, I presided the regular meeting of the TYG CORE GROUP members. I was the principal of the organization. We have discussed and updated some upcoming activities and programs we have had. Our ideas and initiatives are overwhelming but we have a problem in implementing it. We lacked budget and fund to run those proposed projects and activities. Well I guess we have to work more on it.

We have dinner after it at the bay walk. The day ended so great.

Too much of volunteer work? Nope. I don’t think so because I love volunteering. I love doing things for free which I believe worthy of the cause.

A Rushed System Project Proposal

Labels: , ,

It was the second week of my class in Methods of Research, a preparatory subject for our thesis creation next semester. This week should be an easy week for us but it seemed that we were having major time in complying the demands of our instructor at this early start of our class in that subject. On our first meeting, she asked us to submit the title of our proposed system project and she instructed us to have a pre-presentation of the overview of our project. Just this afternoon, we had the powerpoint presentation for it. After I presented, she gave me good suggestion on my system project entitled, NDMU Online Card Catalogue Retrieval System, and she approved it for further study and GUI and database development stage.

It seems that we are being rushed by our instructor. The demand was very high and our instructor expects of too much from us. Whaah! I think next week; we will have our defense for that.

I hope I can make it to her deadlines and demands. Pray.

SHOTdown

Labels: , ,

I am in my final year in college and the demand of my course is very high. I have to think of my project for thesis and it will be presented on Monday. My instructor really wants the title and description of the system we will be developing that will give solution to a certain problem in a specific field.

These are the options I have for my system project.

1.) Online Card Catalogue Retrieval System. PHP+MySql read more
2.) NDMU Online Grade Inquiry and Information System.
My own idea. Boring. PHP+MySql or Java+MySql
3.) JVC-ADC Accounting System. We are developing this system right now.
4.) Customized NDMU Enrolment System and Online Registration.

I am considering also making a study on the effects of implementing an application in a community. Just like what Winston have suggested, “Urban poor yung target mo… farmers for example”. He is trying to tell me to develop a customized accounting system for farmers that will cater to their needs. It is more likely a online collaboration of farmers’ financial management. Another he had suggested is the Data kiosk, a system that accepts inquiries and inputs from a touch screen monitor and presents searched information. The disadvantage there is the cost of developing the system. Though it is in trend, I have no budget to finance it. Hehehe.

If I cannot settle with one final system project, I will simply have Online Card Catalogue Retrieval System as my thesis project to work on. Additional necessary feature will just be added and I will just enhance and upgrade it.

You can leave some suggestions in my comment side if you have some brilliant ideas of a system to develop that will certainly give solution for the automation and making a process efficient and easy in a specific context of a problem in any fields.
